UV Light in Hospitals

No one wants to go to a hospital and get sicker. That’s why many hospitals use UV light sanitizers to help prevent the spread of harmful germs.

What is a hospital-grade UV light sanitizer?

If something is hospital grade, it is EPA-registered for use in hospitals, clinics, dental offices, and other medical facilities.

Do hospitals use UV light to disinfect?

Yes. Before UV light was used to disinfect your phones, it was used in hospitals to disinfect operating rooms and patient quarters. UV light doesn’t just help keep patients safe, it also helps keep healthcare workers safe and able to continue providing care.

How do hospitals use UV light to disinfect?

Typically, hospitals will use portable UV sanitizers that can be moved between rooms and placed in lobbies. UV lights provide an extra layer of protection against bacteria and viruses.

What is the benefit of using UV light disinfection in the operating room?

Operating rooms can get contaminated quite easily. Surgeons and other workers in an operating room work hard to keep their workstation clean and have measures in place to keep their patients safe, but often there are harmful germs that linger.

UV light disinfection is effective and safe to use on any devices or tools. Duke Health did a study of UV light in hospitals and found it reduces transmission of viruses and bacteria that can cause new infections. Using UV light in an operating room provides another layer of protection and peace of mind that healthcare workers and their patients are getting the safest care.

Hospitals help fight disease. They should not be a breeding ground for germs that spread sickness. UV light is an effective and safe way to keep hospitals functioning while tackling even tough-to-kill bacteria and viruses.

*ExpressPro has been tested by an independent, third-party laboratory to be 99.99% effective against E. coli, Salmonella, and MRSA at 15 seconds; 99.9% effective against C. difficile at 30 seconds and 99.99% at 60 seconds; and 99.999% effective against MRSA and Salmonella at 30 seconds. These tests were conducted using a modified ASTM E1153 standard for efficacy of UV light on general hard, non-porous surfaces such as glass, metals, and plastics. It has been tested on phones and tablets. Real-world results may vary depending on size, shape, and material of objects being disinfected.
