We’re Dan Barnes and Wes LaPorte, and we invented PhoneSoap.
Our Phones Were Filthy
A few years ago, we watched a shocking report on TV that claimed our cell phones were contaminated with fecal matter. We wanted to find out if the report we heard was true, so we headed into the lab to test our phones for ourselves. Our results proved the average phone is 18 times dirtier than a public bathroom.
Making the First PhoneSoap
We knew we had to make a safe way to sanitize our phones, but it couldn’t add to our busy routines or take away from our screen time. Labs and hospitals use UV-C light to disinfect, so we launched a Kickstarter campaign to put that same power inside the first PhoneSoap.
Shark Tank & Beyond
It was a great idea for a product, and other people agreed. After appearing on NBC’s Shark Tank, co-host Lori Greiner invested in us and we’ve sold more than 100,000 PhoneSoaps. We’ve continued to grow and added to our product line, but we're still run by a lean, dedicated team. Everything we do is still focused on using technology to make our lives healthier.
